About US

Gene and Katie Hamilton
We're happy to have you visit our site and hope you enjoy reading about our experience cruising sail and power boats on coastal waters. Since 1969 we've logged thousands of miles cruising the Great Lakes, inland rivers, along the Eastern seaboard and in the Bahamas.

We've written about boating for magazines like Cruising World, Sail, Sailing, Power Cruising, PassageMaker and Motor Boating. Our two boating books are Practical Boating Skills and Coastal Cruising Under Power.

We've owned seven boats (5 sail, 2 power) in all, ranging from a J24 sailing racer to a Wood Grand Banks 42 trawler. We're living proof of the old adage "Old sailors never die, they trawl away."

We've never known a boat we didn't like.

We're members of the USPS, U. S. Power Squadron, MTOA, the Marine Trawler Owners Assn., AGLCA, America's Great Loop Cruisers' Assn., the Chesapeake Bay Grand Banks Owners Assn. and Boating Writers International.

Today we cruise on High Life, a Grand Banks 36-foot trawler. We keep High Life on the Chesapeake Bay at the Miles River Yacht Club in St. Michaels, Maryland. We go cruising whenever and wherever we can, and we hope to meet you somewhere along the way.
